Installation of portable weather stations of the FIRESTORM project in Serra da Lousã

On October 8, 2020, were installed two portable weather stations in the Lousã Mountain, in Candal and Trevim. The information collected by these weather stations will be used in Task 2 of the FIRESTORM project, in order to improve the understanding of changes in the vertical temperature profile, humidity and wind in mountainous areas, which is significantly important in the fire spread.

One of the weather stations was installed in Candal, in the Shale village, which is located in Lousã mountain at an approximately altitude of 615 m (Figure 1). The other weather station was installed in Trevim, next to a telecommunications antenna, which is located at the top of Lousã Mountain, in an open valley, at an altitude of about 1140 m (Figure 2).
